Phaung Daw Oo Pagoda Festival

Duration: 26 days
Very colourful festival when the 4 Buddha Statues (out of 5) from Phaung Daw
Oo Pagoda are taken around the lake on a gilded Karaweik royal barge.
Hot-air Ballons Festival
Where: Taunggyi, Southern Shan State
When:a week before Full-moon day of Tazaungmon (1 to 8 November)
Duration: 1 week, starting from 7 days before the fullmoon day.
Traditionally it is a festival to pay homage to the Sulamuni Pagoda in heaven by sending up
decorated balloons. Now a competition by the individual villages from the vicinity to send up the
best decorated and high-flying balloons has been incorporated.
Kahtein Robes Offering
Where: In all monasteries allover the country.
When: Whole Myanmar month of Tazaungmon (25 October to 23 November)
According to Buddhist tradition devotees offer robes to the monks after the monsoon rains as an act of merit. Some also
celebrate the same by hoildng competitions to finish weaving the robes during be night previous to the Full
Moon Day of Tazayngmon to offer to the Buddha Status.
Manaw Festival

Traditional Kachin Mana Festival to celebrate the New Year. All the Kachin Clans will congregate at
Myitkyina to celebrate this event.
Naga New Year
Where: Layshi Township, Sagaing Division

Duration:Two days
One of the most colourful ceremonies of the country.
Different tribes of Naga gather by the hundreds in their colourful costumes to !!3Jform ritual dances.
Ananda Pagoda Festival
Where: Ananda Pagoda, Bagan
When: One week precedin the Full Moon day of Pyatho (December 23 to January 20)
Duration: one week
One of the most popular festivals in the country.
Villagers come in covered bullock arts and came out for the duration.
